We depart the hotel at 08:00 for our journey to Zagreb. We are meeting a guide in Zagreb at 11:00 so I have allowed plenty of time.
As the motorways all seem to be new I am not sure how much of our journey is on the motorway and how much on the local roads.
I needn't have worried as the whole drive is motorway and so quiet in places it is like driving on Christmas Day!
We have time for a half hour stop before reaching Zagreb.
We are meeting our guide, Vladimir, at the concert hall and I find this easy enough, which is probably why it was chosen!
We are 10 minutes early and a rather harrassed middle aged man is trying to run across the pavement towards us. It is Vladimir and he rather breathlessly tells me he has just parked his scooter. I like him straightaway as we start our tour.
I am not sure how the passengers are taking to him as he speaks very quickly and holds the microphone too close to his mouth but I still like him!
Vladimir proceeds to give an interesting tour on the coach although I do feel a little rushed.
He tells us about the Mannequin Pis statue in Brussells and how disappointing it is (he is right) and then extols the virtues of Croatians own "piss statue!" We pass a park with a statue of a boy leaning backing and weeing for all he is worth. He certainly wee's further than his Belgian counterpart!
"Now that is a piss statue" exclaims Vladimir as I'm attacked by a fit of the giggles!
He take me around a very tight corner where we have to move some flower pots but not before I catch one of them with the coach. Very little damage but annoying all the same.
Vladimir takes us to a famous cematery which is where I will be parking. The cematery is very impressive and very similar to the one in Imperia in Italy.
It is hard to describe a cematery in a tourist sense ut this one has grand buildings and fancy tombs but still retains a very calming aura of peace.
I drop the group off with Vladimir and arrange to meet them at the Cathedral at 16:00. I hope they find their way!
I take the coach back to the cematery and catch a local bus to the Cathedral where I sit and drink a litre of water (it is very hot again) and wait for the group to arrive. I would have had a coffee and a pizza but the cafe has a power cut!
I do not see the group so decide to walk into the main square and there they are just finishing the tour!
I once again luch with the Spiers clan before catching my busw back to the cematery and the coach. When I arrive back it is 33 degrees inside the coach.
I pick everybody up and we are away by four and back in the hotel two and a half hours later.
