Fri 5th June 2009 Imperia

A nice easy day today with a short drive to Imperia.
I have breakfast sitting outside on the terrace once again but it is not so sunny today although still very warm.
We leave at 08;45 and arrive at our first destination, the Olive Oil Museum, at 09:00. This museum tells the history of olive oil production and how they produce the oil.
We are away from here after an hour and I drive the very short distance into the town to allow the group two hours in this very Italian town.
I cannot park in the town and find a spot on the coast road a couple of miles outside of the town. I am sitting there reading when I hear a blast of a horn from a cement mixer and shouting from the driver. Where I have parked is by a junction in the road where vehicles can turn and go back the way they have come. While I have been here many cars and lorries have turned including a big lorry of about 40 foot long, so there is plenty of room.
I ignore the cement man until he attempts to turn his very short lorry and ends up with his front almost touching the side of the coach head on! I jump out and see what he is doing which is not a lot except shouting and swearing. He keeps nudging forwards as if he will drive into the coach and I am a little worried as I cannot see daylight between the front of his lorry and the side of my coach. I shout back at him but he just continues to rant and rave. I am going to have to move as I think he will deliberately hit me. I give him a two fingered wave and shout back something I can't put down here and then move the coach. What a prat!!
I spend the rest of my time quietly parked further down the road.
We are away from here by 12:30 and back in Diano Marina 10 minutes later.
The group all enjoyed their visit here and were telling me about the yachts in the harbour. As we drove out we pass the harbour and there is a large yacht, painted a brilliant white, with its own helicoptor, also a brilliant white, on the top deck. It really is something owning a yacht but when you own a yacht and your plaything is a helicoptor then you are on a different level!
By the time I have finished I have driven all of 19km! Now that's my kind of day!
I go down to a cafe on the seafront for a bowl of spaghetti and a beer before going back to the hotel where I was going to relax by the pool.
In the end I have a siesta (when in Rome and all that!) as the weather is still cloudy and wake up to a brilliant blue sky but too late for a swim.
