A lovely hot and sunny day for our excursion to Plzen famous for the beer and the Skoda!
I have decided to take the scenic route across country rather than go down to the motorway.
We leave the hotel at ten after a group photo at the front of the hotel and I take the road to Teplo where I come across a crossroads which on the map I have says go straight on but doesn't look correct now I am at the junction. I turn right soon realise my mistake so turn the bus around and take the road that was straight across but this leads nowhere so I turn around again and take the last choice I had! This takes me on the road out to the 20 route which will go straight to Plzen. It looked easy on the map!
At Plzen I park in the coach park near to the centre and walk the group the short distance to the main square. From here they can explore at their leisure and I have given them all booklets with information and a map in.
The main square is vast and dominated by the cathedral in the centre. I like it here but it is totally different to yesterdays visit to Karlovy Vary, here you very much feel you are in Eastern Europe with the tall grey buildings that in their own way are attractive but in a different way to yesterday.
Back at the coach it is boiling and the temperature inside the coach is 37 degrees!
Another bonus is that the parking is free!
Once I run the engine the air con soon brings the temperature down and we go back to Marianske Lazne the same way that we came but without the diversions in Teplo!
Back in my parking bay I clean the coach ready for Wednesdays journey home and then go back to the hotel for a shower. I am going to go out for a beer and a meal tonight to try a local restaurant as I am not driving tomorrow.
The restaurant manager recommended a restaurant call Mes Amis and I will try this if I can find it.
I do find it and am very pleased I made the effort as I enjoyed the best steak I have ever eaten, it was fabulous and the beer was only £1.25 a pint! A top place and if anybody reading this is going to Marianske Lazne in the future you must have a steak at Mes Amis.
