Joyce is still in hospital in Jersey but as of last Friday can come home. She doesn't have any close family so I have offered to collect her.
She cannot fly so the ferry it is but this is a little awkward as it is not possible to return on the same day as there is only a 50 minute turn around time in St Helier.
Also I can't get my car on the ferry as it is full so will have to go as a foot passenger.
This presents another problem as the ferry out today is from Weymouth and the return tomorrow morning is to Poole!
I ask Bob Lloyd, who lives in the same flats as Joyce, to accompany me to Weymouth and then drive my car home and collect us from Poole tomorrow.
This he does but says he will stay in a Bed and Breakfast for the night rather than drive home.
We are in Weymouth by 08:30 in plenty of time for me to catch the 10:00 ferry.
Once I am in Jersey I walk to the hospital to see Joyce but am not allowed in the ward due to cleaning so I say I will be back at 09;30 tomorrow to pick her up.
I then walk to my hotel for the night, the Appollo, which is very nice and close to the town.
It has a pub next door and over the road and an Indian restaurant opposite. I am sorted for the night!
