A free day today in Bantry. It is market day the market is supposed to be a typical large Irish market with everything from horses to hogroast!
I make my way downstairs at eight for breakfast and from the window at the end of my floor (4th) you can see the main square. There are not too many stalls up at the moment which is a bit odd because markets are normally up and running at sparrow fart!
After breakfast I go for a walk to see the market and am very disappointed. It is more like a car boot with all kinnds of rubbish on sale. I admit I'm not a market person but this is lacking in atmosphere as well as stalls.
I later discover that the big market is on the first Friday of each month.
Returning to my room I spend the rest of the morning working through my e-mails and writing a couple of letters. I also start to sort out holidays for next year or rather sort out some ideas for holidays.
At lunchtime I wander back into town for a pint in the local before having a bowl of lasagne in the cafe opposite.
I meant to do a lot more work this afternoon but ended up having a siesta and doing a little work.
Dinner is at the earlier time of 18:00 tonight and the hotel is not quite so busy with diners.
After dinner I watch the first half of the Spain v Chile game before going back to my room.
What an exciting day!
