Off to Bantry Bay in Ireland today so an early start. Am up at 03:30 and in the yard by 05:00.
Brian's daughter Lisa and sister Linda are on the tour and are already waiting for me. They must have left Aldershot early as they got lost on the way and were still in before me!
We arrive at Liphook for our first pick-up and all of the taxi's are ready and waiting! Then to our second and final pick-up in Petersfield where we once again leave ahead of schedule.
Once on the M4 it is pretty much a straight road through to Pembroke. We have a couple of stops en route and Kay and Carol kindly serve some drinks for me. Well for the passengers really as they all got served and I was never asked! And I was gasping for a coffee!
We arrive in Pembroke a couple of hours before our 14:45 sailing which allows time to stretch our legs or have a drink in the cafe. It is a beautiful hot sunny day so the crossing should be a good one.
I have felt very tired driving today and am very pleased to be here as I can now relax and look forward to an easy end to the day.
There are a couple of other coaches here including one from Fenns but I don't know the driver or courier. Fenns are one of the companies I look up to in the way they operate and the vehicles they have and I know a few of the people there.
The ferry departs a few minutes early and is nowhere near full as the decks seem almost empty.
I have a drink and sandwich, a quick walk outside and then retire to the cabin I have been given. The crossing time is approximately four hours.
I actually get into bed and sleep on and off for three hours! Told you I was tired!
By the time we drive off the ferry it is nearly 19:00 and still the sun is very warm.
Twenty minutes later we are outside the Talbot Hotel in Wexford, parked just behind the Fenns coach.
This is a superb hotel and one we have used many times before. A lovely young lady boards the coach to introduce everybody to the hotel and hand out their room cards.
They all enjoy a nice meal in the restaurant while I enjoy a nice meal in the bar! Well the football is on and has to be watched doesn't it? It is the World Cup and for the record Brazil defeat the Ivory Coast.
