Saturday 03 July Goslar

I am off to Goslar in Germany today to do a recce for our upcoming Harz Mountains tour. It is late to be doing this but I was planning to go a couple of months ago but couldn't get away from work.
I am flying from Southampton to Hannover and then will drive to Goslar, exploring on the way.
Going from Southampton is great as it is close to home and not busy.
Once in Germany it is very, very hot and every time I get out of the car it is like somebody pointing a hairdryer into your face all of the time.
All I seem to see is cars with the German flag, houses with the German flag, shops with the German flag and people with the German flag.
Germany play Argentina tonight and you can feel the anticipation. Makes me feel depressed for what might have been!
As the 15:00 kick off time approaches I am driving towards the hotel in Goslar and it is a weird experience as it is very quiet with hardly anybody about.
I arrive at the hotel and see Germany beat Argentina 4-0 to book their place in the semi-finals. All you can hear all evening is the hooting of car horns and cheering of happy supporters. Makes me decide to stay in the hotel this evening.
If only.......
