Tuesday 07 September York

York is our destination today and always a pleasure to visit.
Also a pleasure to find the coach hasn't been attacked this morning!
Once again we are away at 09:15 and it is raining persistantly!
Malcolm has been in touch with a sightseeing bus lady who tells him it is blue sky and sun in York. Yeah right! Anything to make sure you still come and go on their sightseeing tour.
We arrive in York and the sun is out and the sky is blue. I take it all back! I park in the coach park near to the Minster and the group all join their hop on/hop off bus. Malcolm has included this in their tour and it is a good idea as it saves the older ones too much walking and those who don't know York can see where everything is before deciding how to spend their day.
I sit in the coach and try to write the last few pages for my brochure but am having an enthusiasm failure. I go for a walk.
York is as beautiful as ever and I'm glad I came out. I needed to find a post office, which I found, and buy some lunch, which I did!
Back at the coach I am refreshed and manage to do a couple of hours writing which in its self makes me feel better. And the sun is still out.
We leave York by 15:45 and are soon on the motorway north back to Durham.
One of the ladies is convinced she has lost a blue cardigan as she thinks it is on the rack above her head but it is not there. Her friend is convinced she took it off in Marks and Spencer's as they were having lunch.
We arrive back at the hotel and once everybody is off I park the coach and return to the hotel. The lady who has lost her cardigan is on the telephone to Marks and Spencer's (I presume) to ask if they have found it.
I drop some stuff in my room and return to reception to ask a question only to see the receptionist now talking to the man from Marks.
"They don't have a restaurant in Marks and Spencer" The receptionist informs the lady
"They do because I had my lunch there" - "There must be another shop"
"They only have one Marks in Durham!"
"Well I definately had lunch there"
On hearing this I tell the two ladies we have been in York all day!
The receptionist finds this hilarious although I don't know what the man on the other end in Durham Marks thinks of it all. By the time they ring York the shops are shut!
I am off into town tonight to watch the football (England are away to Switzerland) and have a meal out.
