Tuesday 28 September Portoroz - Lipica

Normally today would be a free day but I have booked a tour and show at the Lipica Stud Farm for this afternoon.
We have an easy morning before leaving at 11:30 for Lipica. This is where they breed and train the famous white Lippinzaner horses.
An easy hour later we are at Lipica and have time for lunch before our tour at 14:00. This is very interesting and you get to see lots of these beautiful animals, all of whom are born with dark skin but turn white as they grow older.
After the tour we enjoy a show by the horses with their trainers. They are very clever and to see them dancing in quite moving.
On our way back I am driving down the motorway when I can see a car in the distance with its four way flashers on and going very slow. I go to overtake and he pulls into the outside lane and I then spot the blue light on his roof! What is going on here? A sign across the road is telling us that the tunnel ahead is closed and the little police car was slowing me down.
We soon come to standstill half a mile from the closed tunnel and take our position in the two lanes of stationary vehicles.
The roads are very quiet here and it is surprising how much traffic mounts up in a short space of time. We wait for 45 minutes before whatever has happened in the tunnel has been cleared and we can go on our way.
This evening I decide to go out for dinner and hope that I can see the Chelsea Marseille game on the television somewhere.
I have a steak that I didn't enjoy very much and cannot find the football on so return to the hotel. I end up watching Arsenal play Pertisan Belgrade with Frank, Val and Bob.
