Rudesheim Thursday 15 December 2011

We are going to Frankfurt today and depart the hotel at 09:00. As it is so tight getting in and out of the hotel we decided to wait until today to fill up with fuel and this we do as we leave Rudesheim.

As we approach Frankfurt, all modern high rise buildings made of glass, we hit a lot of traffic and the last part of the journey is slow through the city centre.
There is coach parking in the heart of the city next to the excellent Christmas markets. When we arrive all of the bays are taken up except for one at the front that is for the city sightseeing bus. We pull in here and drop the passengers off and wait to be moved on!
I go off for a short walk before a call from Brian telling me have to move.
Before we set off I ask the English coach parked behind us what time he is leaving and he tells me 11:45. It is now nearly 11:30 so we will try and wait the next few minutes but soon have to move as another city bus turns up.
We drive around the block and after a short wait swap places with the departing coach. Sorted!
We go off for a coffee before finding a mushroom stall for Brian to finally have his mushrooms.
We are departing Frankfurt at 15:15 which may be too long for some but may not be long enough for others. The market here is one of the best and we are also next to the wonderful modern shopping centre.
The drive back is mostly done in very heavy rain which doesn’t stop until we reach Rudesheim at 16:15.
Plenty of time for another look around Rudesheim and some more shopping.
I am on a mission to find some toothpaste as I have run out and end up buying some at the other end of the town close to the coach park.
Once again dinner is at 19:00 and we are in the same seats as last night.
Our wine has been delivered today and is waiting to be picked up from the reception desk.
It is an early night for me tonight as I will have to be up at 05:30 for a 06:30 breakfast as we are departing at 07:30 in the morning.
