A long drive today from Bruhl to St Johann im Pongau in Austria.
Breakfast is as good as ever and we are away on time at 08:00 for the long motorway drive. There is not a lot to write about today except we encounter miles and miles of roadworks, probably the best part of 100km during the day, which keep slowing me down and I lose time at each one.
We have three stops on the motorway before reaching St Johann and the Hotel Bruckenwirt by 18:15. A happy with that arrival time.
Probably the highlight for me was driving past the Allianz Arena in Munich and the scene of Chelsea’s greatest triumph last month. Puts a great big grin on my chops!
We are met at the Hotel Brockenwirt by the owner Petra who is very helpful and efficient (like most Austrians). I am soon unloaded and parked up and getting ready for the game tonight just as a terrific thunderstorm passes overhead.
The hotel has a big screen in the restaurant and we all watch the England Italy game alongside a group of Germans.
I am not saying any more other than we lost on penalties and are out of the Euro’s.
