Tuesday 14 February
I enjoy a nice breakfast and then pay my bill of €38 which I am happy about. I need to go back to the coach as my phone is about to run out of charge and the only charger I have is the one on the bus.
As I arrive at the garage they have already taken the old water pump off and the new one is there waiting to be fitted.
I sit at the front of the bus doing some work while my new chum is mending the bus!
Everything is put back and the moment of truth has arrived.
I start the engine and hurry to the back where two mechanics are checking the engine for any leaks. Thankfully there are none at the moment but will have to do a road test before they are sure.
I take the mechanic for a 20 minute drive and then return to the workshop where they have a good look underneath and find no other leaks. Phew!
Once I have paid the bill I return to the hotel via a quick stop for lunch at Golling services and park up a relieved and happy chap. Konrad on the Russegger coach has been hired in for the whole day so I will leave the arrangements as they are. If I cancelled him now I would still have to pay so it seems sensible to leave it be.
Brian has stayed behind at the hotel and we have a coffee together before spending a relaxing afternoon in and around the hotel.
Once the skiers return they seem genuinely pleased that the problem, although expensive, was the lesser of two evils and could have been a whole lot worse. I am touched by their concern and make a vow to myself to take every available precaution and double check everything before coming away ski-ing again.
I sleep a lot easier tonight!
