Here we go again back to Nauders in Austria for what is
becoming an annual trip for Greys. I
don’t mind as I love it there and it always a pleasure.
Hollie is with me again this week to help out.
Another early start getting up at 03:15 before our usual
three pick-ups in Petersfield, Liphook and Guildford.
A short comfort stop on the M25 before we arrive in Dover
in plenty of time to catch the 09:20 sailing to Calais. Our ferry is the Spirit
of France, one of two massive new ferries operating for P & O. There is an
excellent drivers room where we enjoy a deserved breakfast followed by a sit
down in the lovely reclining seats where I manage to knock out an hours’ worth
of Z’s!
Joining the French motorway is like driving on Christmas
Day as there is so little traffic and we have a good run through to our hotel
in Saarbrucken, the Mercure Saarbrucken sud. The hotel is only a mile across
the border into Germany but it is worth the short detour.
The standard of German hotels is far superior to anything
on offer in France. We could stay at a Mercure in France but we would pay more
and receive less so it is a no brainer staying in Germany.
I like this hotel as it is close to the motorway, the
food is good and you can park the bus as well as having a large commercial fuel
garage next door. Although a modern building it is built on the remains of a
concentration camp.
I don’t require any rocking tonight!
