Nauders Friday 27 September 2013

Our last day in Nauders today and it is another free day at leisure for everyone. Although Nauders is quiet it is the most relaxing place to spend a day. Everyone will have their own idea of what is relaxing – some will walk, go up the cable car or chairlift, mooch about the hotel or go and ride a bike!
Peter is hiring a bike for the day again and wants to ride into Italy. He is going back to the same cycle hire shop as he reckons the bike he is hiring would cost at least £1000 at home. Mind you in proper mountains you need a decent machine.
It is a bit wet this morning and have offered to take

anyone who wants to up to the cable car and also to the Italian border if they want to have a stroll back from Italy.
I don’t have too many takers as I drop off at the cable car and then take Wendy and Carol to Italy! I drop them just across the border where there are a couple of shops and restaurants and they are going to walk back. There is a path back to the village and it is a gentle slope downhill so should be a doddle for two walkers of their calibre!
I manage to purchase a couple of goodies for the mileage quiz before we return to the hotel and an easy afternoon.
By lunchtime the rain has gone and the sun is out as Hollie and I walk down to the supermarket cafe for a spot of lunch. Doug and Penny are also here as well as a few others from the coach.
I think most people enjoyed their day whatever they decided to do. I know Peter managed to ride his expensive bike into Italy, Wendy and Carol managed the walk back from Italy and Colin and Pat walked down from the top of the mountain. Am a little envious as that is what I would love to do. I have never walked down from the top here but have skied it a few times!
After dinner we had the group photo taken in the restaurant before retiring to the lounge where Charly has a glass of schnapps for everyone. More like fire water! I could run the bus on this stuff!
We are sat in the lounge waiting for the schnapps when Peter says “Did you know I rode to Italy today!”
We have the schnapps and a little speech from Charly. Peter says “Did you know I rode to Italy today!”
Very funny said with tongue firmly in cheek. Lovely man.
Hollie doesn’t drink so has a coke instead of the fire water while I feel obliged to try one. What do they see in this? I suppose it must keep you warm in the winter.
Bed for me after as we have a long drive ahead tomorrow.

“Did you know I rode to Italy today!”
