Sunday 18 July 2010 Goslar

Wake up feeling fresh after a good nights sleep and enjoy my breakfast sitting outside.
We are away at nine and on our way to our home for the next five nights Goslar. The journey today is not far and I hope to come off the motorway and drive along parts of the Fairytale Road, the inspiration behind many of the Brothers Grimm fairytales.
I have three waitresses serving drinks, Anne, Evelyn and Pat, and a very good job they are doing too. Wendy supplied the biscuits I had forgotten to buy so we are sorted!
At about 12:30 I pull into a service area near Kassel and promptly pull out again! It is heaving with coaches parked all over the place and folk everywhere. Plan B!
We come off the motorway a couple of junctions from the sevices and head towards a town called Hann. Munden which is supposed to be the finest medieval town in the area. I just hope I can park the coach and drop the passengers conveniently.
The journey from the motorway is very pretty with a couple of hairpin bends and the town proves to be even prettier. I follow the parking signs and see a coach coming the other way, which either means I am in the right place or there is another lost coach! I am in the right place.
The coach park is in a beautiful spot on a bend in the river Wesser, lots of seating, toilets and a short walk into town. Perfect.
There is a man selling cherries who is doing a roaring trade and after tasting some I can see why, they are delicious.
The town itself is gorgeous with its many timbered framed buildings, beautiful streets and stunning square. It certainly lives up to its billing and I can't think of a prettier town and location. A right result.
From here we travel north through scenery that is not stunning but very pretty, gentle and easy on the eye. A very pleasant drive.
I have another stop in the town of Bad Karlshaven which is more white Baroque buildings also situated on the river Wesser. It is very hot here and I think all of the coach enjoy an ice cream here. Again there is a convenient coach park in the town.
I am going to drive up to Hamelyn and then cut across country to Goslar. On the way we encounter a diversion which changes my direction and it is probably for the better as we can cut a corner off our original route.
We arrive at the Ramada Hotel in Goslar at 18:30 and it doesn't take long to sort everybody out and into their rooms.
The dinner is once again a buffet with a good choice of food. Everybody is happy except for the heat. It is still very hot and there is no air conditioning in the hotel. I am ok as I have my fan with me!
