Departing at 08:30 we begin our journey to Hameln, a town made famous by the Pied Piper.
I think it will take me 1 1/2 hours and Michael had said 2 hours. It takes me 1 3/4 hours! Most of the journey, bar twenty minutes, is across country and everywhere is so clean and free of any kind of grafitti and litter. Not many folk about either!
Arriving in Hameln we park at the edge of the old town next to both the city gardens and the tourist information centre.
Everywhere we have been there has been coach parking convenient to where you are visiting and close to toilets and everywhere has been free. It is a pleasure bringing a bus to these places.
It is not very sunny today but still very warm and muggy.
I do a bit of shopping and have a coffee with some of the passengers before returning to the coach where I don't do as much work as I intended to!
Most of the passengers enjoyed Hameln but where a little put off by all of the construction work in the main square.
Three times a day in one of the main buildings (I can't remember the name!) the bells ring and ther is a procession of the Pied Piper and his rats around the bells. It is called a Glockenspiel and is a famous attraction of Hameln. There is a sign on the building works explaining that the Glockenspiel is not working during the alterations.
At no appointed time the bells ring and the figures appear. Some where lucky to see this while others had gone elsewhere. It was all a bit disappointing for some but they had a good day nonetheless.
We are away by 14:00 and back in Goslar by 15:45. I drop some in the town, promising to be back at five and then take the rest back to the hotel.
When I go back for 17:00 it is raining hard! The rain is welcome but doesn't seem to make it any cooler!!
