Saturday 07 August Bad Kohlgrub - Oberammergau

All motorway today and up to lunch time the traffic has been light. In the afternoon we have continuous hold ups due to volume of traffic and having a choice of routes I can take decide to turn off the A7 and take the A95 and then the 17 road south.
I am only on the A95 when the traffic comes to a complete standstill with engines off and people stood outside their vehicles. It must be an accident.
A police car comes speeding up the hard shoulder and soon after an ambulance fights its way through the centre of the traffic and into the distance. I don't understand why there is a hard shoulder on the motorway yet the cars move into this and make a lane in the centre. Why not just leave the hard shoulder free for what it is supposed to be for?
We are delayed 45 minutes before moving off and passing the wreckage of a car down the bank at the side of the motorway, I hope the people inside are ok.
Finally we arrive in Bad Kohlgrub at 17:40 which is not bad considering the traffic today.
Bad Kohlgrub is only 10 miles from Oberammergau and this will be our home for the next two nights. The group are split between two hotels - four ladies are in the Kurhotel Lauter and the rest are in the Schillingshof.
Both hotels are 4* and I go to the Schillingshof first. I am given the room cards, passion play tickets, lunch and dinner vouchers for Oberammergau, menu choices for the lunch and dinner and a passion play book. All a bit confusing but we get there in the end.
I then take the four ladies to the Kurhotel, about 2 minutes away, where the young lady at reception does all the work for me!
I park the coach back at the Scillingshof and look forwards to a relaxing evening.
Dinner is a good buffet and all of the group here are very happy.
If they're happy I'm happy!
