Monday 04 October Hinterthiersee - Liege

We depart beautiful Hintersee after breakfast and after we have all taken pictures of the stunning scenery. It is another lovely day.
It is all motorway today as we are soon back in Germany and driving around Munich.
We have a coffee stop at Augsberg services before pressing on towards our overnight hotel on the outskirts of Liege.
While at the services I call the hotel with our menu choices for this evening thinking I had to give a choice of one of the three menus I have been given for the whole group. This is the normal procedure for overnight stays. On calling the hotel they tell me that we can order individually but they would like to know by lunchtime. Once everybody is back on the coach I take orders for this evening and call the hotel back.
My aim is to stop for lunch on the motorway between Stuttgart and Karlsruhe.
I pull into Pforzeim services along with everybody else from the autobahn! There is nowhere to park as I drive through the car park that is full of cars and lorries taking up every available space. I manage to get back to where I came in and wanted to go around again but a badly parked lorry meant I was forced out onto the motorway again. This is a pain as my driving hours are nearly up and the next service area is an hour away! There is nothing I can do but press on and stop at the next available place.
I'm glad we did carry on as the next service area is quiet, clean and has a good restaurant.
We were originally booked to stay in a hotel near to Aachen both on the way out and on the return. We don't usually stop in Belgium as it is too close to Calais on the way out and normally a bit too far to reach on the penultimate day.
This has worked out ok as it will make tomorrow a very easy day and also we are using this hotel (hotel Post) next year on the Black Forest holiday.
The hotel is located just off the motorway and I can park in the car park. Add to that nice rooms, a good bar and restaurant and you have a very good overnight hotel, somewhere I will happily return to.
It goes down well with the passengers too.
