Sunday 03 October Portoroz - Hinterthiersee

We begin our journey home today.
I am up at 05:30 and down at reception by 06:20 with all of my luggage to wait for the hotel minibus to take me to the coach at 06:30. I want to load the cases at 07:00 which will allow me time for some breakfast before our 08:00 departure.
After a few frantic phone calls the minibus turns up at 06:40! I think I had been forgotten.
Once at the coach I sort myself out and drive to the hotel. I have cleaned the inside of the coach but didn't wash the outside as it was pouring down at the time. I really should have washed it yesterday but had to put the brochure first. I feel a little guilty turning up at the hotel with a dirty bus!
We are away on time and are taking a quicker way back to Austria, driving through Slovenia north into Austria and then across country to Hinterthiersee.
We have been blessed with a gorgeous sunny day and the scenery is fantastic. I manage to reach Zell amd See for lunch and we spend a couple of hours here. The coach park is by the indoor sports stadium and while we are here there is an ice hockey tournament going on.
I wash the bus!
We depart Zell and take the beautiful cross country route towards Kitzbuhel. We have a small mountain pass to drive over, the Thurn Pass, and then it is downhill all the way into Kitzbuhel.
On our descent a very loud buzzer and light appear on the dash! A breakdown my worst nightmare! I manage to pull into a bus stop in the middle of nowhere except for a small hotel and cafe adjacent! The passengers can have a drink while I try and sort out the problem. If totally left to me this could prove a problem in itself!
I check the manuel to see what the warning light is for and find out either the engine is overheating or there is no oil pressure and no oil. I checked the oil this morning and there is no oil up the back of the bus and nothing on the engine.
My next task is to call Ray with the good news.
Following his instructions we find that the electric fan hasn't cut in and can be manually screwed to the fan meaning it would be on all the time but the engine will not run hot.
All I have to do now is line up the hole on the fan with the hole on the electric fan.
I have some assistance by the passengers and eventually the two holes line up. Now all I need is a screww to hold them together! Another problem - no screws!
I take one out of a bracket in the luggage compartment and although the right size it is too short. We then swap this for one on the air-con bracket and hooray we are molbile again.
Thanks to all of my helpers.
We couldn't have picked a nicer place to break down and while here all enjoyed a drink or ice cream from the restaurant.
We arrive at our hotel at 17:45 and with the weather still lovely can really appreciate the setting.
Dinner was nice but the same as last week!
We are led to beleive that there is live music in the hotel's other bar across the road from where we eat bur after a large group of us sit in the bar waiting nothing happens! Time for bed!

We also had a tour going to Canada today with 7 people being transferred to Gatwick. Wendy went with the minibus to help them check in and wave them on their way.
