Zauchansee again today and once again we are the first coach here. It is very sunny this morning with the coach showing the outside temperature as -8!
No hospitals today (hopefully) so Brian and I take advantage of the free ski pass on offer to the drivers. It is the perfect morning to be going up a mountain.
Armed with our passes we join the queue for the cable car to the top of the mountain and while waiting one of the men operating the car tries to explain something to us. We catch the gist as being we can’t come down by cable car and will have to walk to another lift to return.
All sounds a bit odd but there you go, we carry on in the queue. As we are approaching the cable car we are stopped by another man who tells us we can’t go up on this car as we will not be able to come back down. He sends us off in the direction of a chair lift.
Eventually we find an eight man chair lift that takes us on a gorgeous ride high up into the mountains. Even though it is cold the scenery is fantastic with the deep blue sky a perfect backdrop to the snow covered peaks. Stunning, I love the mountains.
It is still early and there are not many skiers about as we traipse across the snow to a welcoming mountain restaurant that offers warmth, views and coffee.
The ride back down the mountain was great although I was a bit wary of taking photos with my phone in case I dropped it.
We enjoy lunch in the cafe I went to yesterday and my goulasch soup was goulasch soup today!
Back at the coach I received a call from Chris to say one of the lads had hurt his knee and was in the medical room at Flachau. Here we go again!
There were many calls to and fro and we eventually learn that Hugh (injured saucepan lid) has been taken to Schladming hospital with Sarah. Here we go again!
We depart the slopes at 16:30 and drive to the hospital to pick Sarah and Hugh up. He has injured his knee and is on crutches which makes getting on the coach a little difficult.
From Schladming it is only an hour back to the hotel.
Chips and kebab tonight plus spaghetti. After dinner the group had an awards night where each separate group where given certificates for their efforts. Also some funny stories were told and some of the video footage taken on the slopes was shown.
