Calthorpe Tonale Tuesday 12 April

All thoughts today are towards tonights Champions League Quarter Final between Manchester United and Chelsea with Chelsea being a goal down from the first leg. We are off ski-ing at 09;00 again and Brian is going to meet us at the restaurant at the top of the mountain. He can walk down to the long chairlift and we will meet him there and ride up together. We all reach the top and as Brian is walking to the restaurant we ski the red run at the top back to the restaurant. Paul wants us to ski the other red run known as Smugglers run because of its close proximity to the tax free resort of Livigno. I am always a little anxious when ski-ing new runs but Paul assures us it will be ok. I don't know why we worried as it was lovely and I found it easier than the other red. Back at the restaurant we all enjoy a beer before continuing with our ski-ing and Brian returns to the bottom without any mishaps. If he had a different surname we wouldn't be worried! I only ski this morning as my legs are aching and spend the afternoon working. I sit in the bar as it is quiet and you can see what is going on outside on the slopes which for some reason seems to help me concentrate. Just before dinner Anne finds the Italian for reserved and writes this on two large pieces of paper which she then puts on the two nearest tables to the television! She is also wearing her Manchester United shirt. Let battle commence! After dinner we cannot get into the television room quick enough to take up our seats. The evening meeting for the children has been postponed until half time and will take place here. Chelsea play well but lose 2-1 and I am gutted, I really thought it would be our year. What a bummer! Feel sick to my stomach. At the half time meeting it is always decided who has to wear the high visibility vest for the next day complete with some funny comment written on the back. It is given to the Dick of the Day!!!It is decided as there are no outstanding candidates then it will be decided on the football result between Anne and I! I will be wearing it as well as a colourful jesters hat at meal times. At full time everyone goes off to bed and I'm left to cry into my beer on my own. Gutted.
