Cesky Krumlov Friday 15 July 2011

Here we go again this time to the Czech Republic.

I have been looking forward to this tour for a while but it is not the easiest as there is no access for the coach to the main hotel due to the old medieval streets and some walking will be required.

I am up at 03:15 after a very busy week so am feeling a little jaded this morning.

The pick-ups go without too many problems the last of which is in Guildford.

My mum did a pick up for me and told me she was clamped yesterday! She had forgotten to pay the car tax and she was found and clamped! It took the payment of a substantial fine to release her car.

I feel lucky because I had forgotten to tax my old green car and it was six weeks late when I noticed! I wasn't clamped but am waiting for a fine to come through for the month I missed.

We arrive in Folkestone in good time for our 09:20 shuttle and proceed to the waiting area without any passports (usual) being checked and no security search (unusual).

Our 09:20 train has been cancelled and we are now on the 09:43 which departs at 09:48!

Not too late but late enough when you have a long drive ahead of you. We are staying in Kaiserslautern tonight which is about the longest we go in one day (six hours from Calais).

Being a Friday I want to miss the Brussels ring road and it's roadworks so we go Lille way for a change. The road is a bit bumpier but the travelling time is the same.

We have a bit of a hold up driving through Luxembourg and eventually arrive at the hotel at 19:15.

Dinner will be at 20:00.

The man at reception removes the metal posts to allow me to park but only removes some of them leaving me to reverse out of a tight spot and into another.

I have no time for a shower, just a brush of the teeth, before dinner and then it is straight to sleep.
