Our last day’s journey begins when we depart the hotel at 08:00 and journey back towards Luxembourg, Belgium and then onto Calais.
We have a pretty good run to the Belgian/Luxembourg border but the traffic going the other way is very heavy with holiday traffic. Most vehicles are either Belgian or Dutch and obviously off on their holidays. I must remember not to go via Brussels and take the Lille route.
I remember! And we do not encounter any hold ups.
Arriving at the shuttle terminal two hours ahead of our crossing I am hopeful of catching a slightly earlier train than our 19:50 one.
There are no places on the early trains so we spend the best part of an hour at the terminal which was very quiet. I ask at the information desk about changing and am told once again that there are no vacancies on the earlier trains. This is due to the high vehicles not coaches.
Anyway we drive around early and join a queue for our train. There has been some delay as the earlier train (the one I tried to catch) still hasn’t loaded and in the end only departs a couple of minutes before us.
I was a little concerned with holiday traffic in England but being that little bit later seems to have worked well. Once again the traffic going the other way is horrendous, both on the M26/20 due to heavy traffic and particularly on the M25 due to a serious accident.
The taxi’s are on time and everybody is soon back indoors after a lovely tour.I am really impressed with Cesky Krumlov and look forward to returning one day in the future. The town is delightful and the hotel is in a perfect location. The one small problem was the moody waiters but when I return I will be ready for them!
