Thursford Christmas Spectacular Tuesday 06 December

Off on a short break to Norwich and the Christmas Spectacular in Thursford.

My three pick-ups in Petersfield, Liphook and Guildford all go smoothly and I’m away from Guildford at 09:30.
From the A3 I join the M25 towards Heathrow and then onto South Mimms Service Area at the junction with the A1. The road is moving well but the electronic boards keep coming up with longb delays between junctions 19 and 23, right where I am going! There is not a lot I can do to avoid the traffic until junction 20 where I could come off and go another way.
Thankfully by the time I reach junction 19 the problem has been solved and the traffic is flowing freely.
After our stop at South Mimms I head off onto the M11 and to Cambridge where we are stopping for a couple of hours over lunchtime.
I drop off close to the centre and park in the park and ride on the outskirts. As I’m not staying too long I don’t have to pay any parking.
We depart Cambridge at 15:00 and I arrive at our hotel in Norwich at 16:30.
We are staying at the Holiday Inn, one of three in Norwich, on the Ipswich Road a couple of miles from the centre.
Dinner is at 19:00 and I am down to make sure everyone is okay.
I am not eating tonight as I want to see Chelsea play Valencia on the television so take a taxi into the centre of Norwich.
I watch the game in the Castlegate pub and am well pleased to see Chelsea play well and win 3 – 0.
What I wasn’t so pleased about is most of the nearby restaurants that were open when I went into the pub are closing as I come out! The only places open later than 22:00 are a couple of expensive Thai restaurants and I don’t fancy that.
I end up with a bar of chocolate from the taxi office vending machine! I will waste away!!
Am very tired though and just glad to get to bed tonight.
