We have another free day today and I think most people are going out on the boat to all parts of the lake. Hollie and I are going to go to Lazise which is about an hours ride away.
Firstly we have breakfast at 09:00 and although not very busy the waiters(??!!!) seem reluctant to do any work. Apart from tables needing clearing, there are no cereal bowls, no cups, no tea pots and no water in the coffee machine! An absolute shambles.
We go for a walk along the lake promenade and then have a mooch about the shops before once again catching the 11:15 ferry, along with most of the coach!
A lot of our passengers are going to Sirmione but Hollie and I are staying on to go to the next stop Lazise, about an hour away.
I haven’t been here before, having always driven past, and am looking forward to seeing what it is like. The small town is situated within old castle walls when approached from the road but as we approach from the lake we come to a gorgeous wide promenade with cafes and restaurants along it and views back across the lake to the opposite mountains.
I am very pleasantly surprised as I expected a small town with a few shops but find lots of little alleyways full of ice cream parlours and cafes as well as lots of little shops. Gorgeous.
And the promenade is beautiful, which is where we sit down for our lunch.
We are not too imaginative with our lunch, both going for a delicious pizza, sat outside a cafe looking towards the lake.
After lunch we treat ourselves to another ice cream with Hollie having After Eight flavour!
I really like it here and will definitely make a stop next time I’m here with the bus.
Once back in Desenzano we went back to our rooms to pack and relax before dinner.
I have been around to tell everybody about our departure time tomorrow and also the procedure for leaving staff gratuities. The girls at reception and the chamber maids deserve something but I’m not so sure of the restaurant/breakfast staff.
Before going to bed I spoke to the owners wife about breakfast tomorrow as we are having it half an hour earlier at 07:00.
I am assured that all will be open and ready for seven and I toddle off to bed happier.
