Up again at 06:00 and the same procedure as yesterday
with our departure being at 07:30. Today we are going a little further to the
resort of Zauchensee which is popular and offers a greater variety of ski-ing
for all standards.
This is another gorgeous drive especially from the
motorway to Zauchensee which is a climb through wooded trees covered in snow.
The weather is going to be sunny today so good ski-ing is
assured.
I am itching to have a ski and decide to go for it today
as it is such a nice day. Also we park underground here and with the sun out it
seems such a waste sat on a dark coach. I also have the added bonus of being
given a free ski pass and as I have my own boots only need to hire ski’s and
poles.
We sort the group out and then I do an hours work before
going ski-ing at about 10:00. It is absolutely glorious although I am a little
apprehensive ski-ing on my own on slopes
I don’t know.
I stick to the blue runs and have a great morning, the
conditions are great. I was hoping to tag onto one of the groups but don’t see
anybody all morning.
I have a piece of lasagne high up in a mountain cafe
before ski-ing back down to the bottom. I finish at lunchtime as I am a bit
tired and do not want to risk hurting myself but have really enjoyed it.
I take my ski’s back and meet Brian in a restaurant at
the bottom and have a coffee while he devours a steak, and also in there are three of the groups!
The group are due back by 16:00 but some of them are back half an hour early. One of the lads in this group lost his ski while on the chair lift, a frightening scenario that anyone ho has skied will understand. By all accounts the boy involved is a lovely lad and he is distraught.
Just before we depart the good news filters through that somebody has found the ski and handed it in.
We are back in Golling just after 17:00 and drop the group at the local swimming pool where they have an hour and a half swimming. Brian takes me back to the hotel where I can do some work before dinner.
