Tuscany Sunday 06 October 2012

Breakfast is at 06:45 and we are away at 07:45 for the long drive up to Calais. It never seems so bad going this way and we can break the back of it before anyone realises how far we have travelled.
It is raining heavily as we leave and this knocks our speed down by 10kph, a law in France when it is raining.
It is like driving on Christmas Day as there is no traffic about.
We have a couple of stops before arriving in Calais at 16:00. We are not booked on a shuttle until 19:20 but I'm confident we can catch an earlier one, especially with their being so little traffic about.
At the terminal we are told there is no availability before our intended crossing time and once parked up I try again at the desk in the terminal. There are no other coaches in the coach park and still we can't catch an earlier train which is made even more annoying when I realise that the large carriages we travel in are being filled with cars. It is not fair and I have the right hump! Not much I can do about it though so we have a longer break in the terminal before our train.
Once back in England we go straight home without stopping and by the time we have seen everybody into their taxi's and driven back to the yard it is 22:00.

I have really enjoyed this tour and Tuscany is always an area I have enjoyed bringing groups to. The main Hotel in Viareggio, The Palace Hotel, was excellent and somewhere I will definitely return to.
It was also nice having my friends on board for their first long distance coach holiday and doubly pleasing that they enjoyed it all.

Until next time

Ciao!!
