Off on one of our popular mystery weekends but where to, that is the question!
My first pick up is in Frimley and then Liphook and Petersfield before we are on our way.
The first stop is at Chieveley services, close to Newbury, where I have to hav e a 45 minute break. Two of my passengers are Malcolm and Jill of Malcolm's Travel, and they kindly offer to make drinks for anyone who doesn't want to go inside and pay £3.00 for a coffee! 60p on the bus!
I have a drink in the service area and make a few phone calls. One is to Trademark Clothing to pay for the shirts, hats, mugs and pens I have bought with Greys logo on them. All I have to do now is sell them!
Anyone reading this would like a blue fruit of the loom polo shirt with the Greys logo tastefully positioned on the shirt please call our office. Baseball caps look good too and who could be without a lovely Greys mug and pen!
From Chieveley I need to throw them off the scent a little so we make our way west to Gloucester and the redeveloped Gloucester Docks. It is lovely here where they have converted the old dock warehouses into museums, shops and cafes. And being a nice sunny day all looks good.
It is a proper mystery tour though as I got lost trying to find the docks! It is a few years since I have been here and thought I would remember but a lot of new buildings threw me and I had to turn around a try a second time.
Still a good place to stop once we are here!
From Gloucester I drive into Wales and follow the river Severn down towards Chepstow. It is a really pretty drive and I think they all believe we are going to Wales. Wrong!
At Chepstow I drive over the old Severn bridge (you don't pay a toll driving out of Wales!!) and rejoin the M4.
Soon we are driving into Bristol, our home for the next three nights.
We are staying at the very comfortable Marriott Hotel situated next door to the impressive Cobolt Shopping Centre.
We are greeted on the coach by one of the receptionists and are made to feel very welcome.
The rooms are large, comfortable and well appointed. There is also free coach parking a short walk away so I'm happy.
Dinner was a starter served to the table, buffet main course and then dessert and coffee served at the table again. All very good and tasty. The hotel, for a large commercial establishment, has a warm and comforting feel to it. I like it.
