We are away at 08:00 today for the long drive back to
Kaiserslautern and our overnight hotel.
We are soon across the border, which is a long tunnel,
and driving through Austria towards Salzburg. The queue coming the other way
goes on for miles. There is normally a short queue here to get through the
tunnel but today it must stretch back ten miles. I am glad we are going this
way!
Before we reach Salzburg we pass a village called Werfen
which is dominated by its castle, the very castle used in the film Where Eagles Dare! A bit before Hollie’s
time and she doesn’t understand why I want a picture. Young girls!!
We have a good run until just past Stuttgart where we
join, and stop, at a long and tiresome traffic jam. It is doubly annoying as I
could have gone another way at Stuttgart but decided to go towards Karlsruhe.
Doughnut! We sit here for the best part of two hours!
We are late arriving at our overnight hotel, the Dorint
Hotel in Kaiserslautern, but they are very understanding as we don’t have
dinner until 09:00!
