Extremely hot today as we leave the hot
el for Lipica and the famous stud farm. Most of the journey is motorway and a very pretty motorway it is too!
On our arrival at the stud farm I park under a tree in
some shade and go off to find the ticket office before returning with tickets
and times. I ask everyone to get off the coach and congregate by the bus as I
need to talk to them. While I organise the passengers Hollie is dishing out
plastic cups and then we produce a couple of bottles of sparkling wine. It is
the wedding anniversary of Debbie and Len Veals and we want to celebrate! A
pop, fizz and couple of slurps soon sorts that out and off we go in search of something
to eat before our tour.
There is both a restaurant and a small cafe here and
everyone has chosen the cafe which produces a queue for cold drinks, sandwiches
and ice creams.
T join your tour you have to walk down to the start area,
go through a turnstyle with your ticket and wait under the language of your
tour. Hollie and I go through too early and are called back by the staff. I
don’t know why as we weren’t going anywhere other than the tour start but had
to go back through the gate, wait a couple of minutes and then be called
through the turnstyle!
We all congregate under the GB sign and enjoy a very
interesting tour in very hot conditions and the guide is great (I can’t
remember her name!). The famous white horses are lovely but when born are all
brown and only become white as they grow older. Sound familiar?!
After the tour there is time for a drink or another ice
cream, and a sit in the shade (it is seriously hot today), before taking our
seats for a show of what these wonderful horses can do. A couple of times a
week there is a performance which is billed as a rehearsal where the horses and
riders show off their skills, all set to music. We watch the start but Hollie
is soon suffering so leave early as she has an allergy with horses and it is
coming out now! We go back to the coach and wait for the passengers to return.
The drive back is very scenic again and doesn’t seem to
take that long as we return to the hotel.
Last night tonight so an early one for me.
