Tuesday 08 October
It is market day
today and have offered to take anyone who wants to a ride into town for said
market.
The market is at
the far end of the town so will save a walk and I will pick up again after
lunch so we can go to Alassio this afternoon.
I check with the
hotel about the market’s location and it has moved! It is now at our end of the
town and begins close to the hotel!! I still drop them at the far end and
arrange to come back at 14:00.
Back at the hotel
I wash the bus, using the very convenient tap on the lawn, before doing some
work sat in the sun on my large balcony. What a life! I wanted to top up the
drinks water but the water from this tap is non potable!
Some of the group
have walked back to the hotel from the market (I told you it was close!) and
will come with me at 13:50 when I go to pick the rest up.
At 14:00 they are
all waiting for me and it doesn’t take them long to jump aboard. Mr and Mrs
Rickman don’t want to come to Alassio so I drop them off by the hotel before
the gorgeous 35 minute drive to Alassio. The road hugs the dramatic coastline
which looks stunning with a clear blue sky and even bluer water. Passing
through pretty small towns this is a truly delightful journey and highly
enjoyable to drive.
I drop off in
Alassio and instead of going to the coach park I drive to a large lay by south
of the town where I can sit and look out at the sea. It is also a good photo
opportunity for bus pictures and the one I have of the bus on the front of our
summer brochure was taken here. It is one of my favourite spots to sit and
relax. Mind you it is very hot today and sitting on the coach is a bit
uncomfortable! As well as looking out to sea it is amusing watching a group of
Italian bus inspectors checking out the local busses as they use the nearby bus
stop. I hope they are not running early or doing anything naughty!!
The return journey
is just as pretty and this makes a really enjoyable afternoon out.
