Austria Ski-ing Tuesday 22 February

There is more snow today than yesterday and once again the snowplough is about to clear the road.
Once again we are away at 07:30 and today we are going to another resort – Zauchensee.
All of these resorts are in the same area and only need the one ski pass.
There has been a lot of snow and the drive up to Zauchensee is gorgeous along a low mountain pass that is surrounded by snow covered trees and ends up in the great ski-ing resort of Zauchensee.
The coach park is underground at the bottom of the ski lifts. This is all very practical but I personally hate parking underground. If I’m sat on the bus I want to be able to look out and see what is going on and not look at a concrete wall!
This part of the resort is very hi – tech. As you leave the coach park and go into the main entrance where the cash desks and toilets are is like walking into a shopping mall although there is only one shop! They have built an inside like the outside with bars, restaurants and a windmill especially for the hundreds of Dutch skiers. To reach the main cable car and chair lifts is by escalator.
We are not here too long this morning as we have an errand to run.
Sarah has been taken to the hospital by David’s wife Stephanie to sit with Haydon and we are going to pick her up and bring her back to Zauchensee.
It is an hour away and we are back before 13:00, just in time for lunch!
We fill our little bellies up with chicken cordon bleu in the restaurant at the top of the escalators. It is very busy in here but we are served very quickly and the food is lovely.
It is snowing heavily today.
We are away by 16:00 and go back to the hotel allowing enough time for a change before returning to the coach and the local swimming pool which is situated in Golling, five minutes from the hotel.
We drop the children off and then head back to the hospital with Sarah who is going to visit Haydon for an hour.
While she is at the hospital we fill the coach with fuel at a nearby garage. We also need water for the drinks machine and toilet and there is a tap at the garage that isn’t frozen.
After paying €300 plus for our fuel the garage man won’t let us have any water. Am not impressed and wish I had asked before filling up.
We pick Sarah up, then the swimmers and go back to the hotel for our 20:00 dinner. Chips with fish tonight!
