Disneyland Paris Friday 10 August 2012

Friday 10 August 2012

Off to Disneyland in Paris this weekend with very nearly a full coach.

No taxi’s this morning as we go around our Greys Express route picking the passengers up. This is the third Greys Express holiday we have done and they are all very popular.
We have deliberately picked hotels/resorts staying only bed and breakfast for one or two nights with no porterage and no taxi giving the passengers a lot more freedom about how they spend their break.

I am up at 03:30 and both Hollie and I are at the yard for 04:20 with our first pick up being in Liss at 05:10.
Hollie is once again my courier and I also have Wendy and Daisy with me as well as my brother and his family and Hollies’ friend Sophie.

We have a good run to Folkestone and arrive in plenty of time to catch our 09:20 shuttle. From Calais it is a clear and relatively quiet run through to the service area near Peronne.
We stop for an hour here and again it is quieter than usual.
The sun is out and it is very hot as we all enjoy a picnic rather than a meal in the restaurant.
The drive from here towards Paris is also quiet and we arrive at our hotel, the Holiday Inn, in Noisy le Grand about twenty minutes from both Paris and Disney.
The hotel is big and modern and ideally situated just off the motorway with parking in the road outside. The rooms are very nicely decorated and very comfortable. They are a little on the small side but then we will only be sleeping in them so that is no problem.

We arrive at the hotel by 15:30 and I have offered to take anybody who wants to go into Paris for the evening at 17:30.

Most of the group go and we again enjoy a traffic free journey into the centre of this gorgeous city and to the Champs Elysee and Arc de Triomphe. Here I drop the people for a couple of hours so they can enjoy dinner in Paris.
Daisy stays with me on the coach and we have a little picnic of bread and cheese for our tea. I was hoping to stay here but am soon moved on by the police and go off and park near to Concorde Square.

I pick them all up at 20:00 and drive straight back to hotel which takes about 30 minutes.

I fancy a beer when we are back and wait while the waiter very slowly takes the drinks orders and when it is my turn I ask for two (Paul is with me) large beers. He tells me they don’t have any draught beer available even though it says so on the menu. They must have run out so we change to a small bottle of beer that is rather dear so I ask if I can bring my own bottle of beer in and drink that. He says that is okay so I go out to the coach and retrieve two large bottles of Croatian beer I have in the fridge and bring them in with me. I then ask if I can borrow the waiters bottle opener to which he asks why. I tell him and he says I can’t drink my beer in here. I said you just said I could and he said I can in my room but not here!
I am not surprised at this but am feeling very tired and a little irritable and if the truth be known am being a little awkward because they are not very on the ball in the bar.

Best I go to bed!
